arguablly the goofiest looking kid I have ever seen. Does anyone know the real urban legand behind putting a ring on a baby's finger? The best explanation I have ever heard was that it is a purity ring. Ha!

I am not sure, but I think the tradition of baby rings goes back to medeival times. A metal ring was seen as a protection from evil spirits particularly in Celtic or Scottish traditions. This translated into Presbyterians and Irish-Catholics predominantly following this tradition in modern times.
As I continue to ponder the baby ring concept: In Celtic tradition, fairies could not stand the touch of metal and there was a belief that fairies would try to steal children. This is not unlike a modern fear that gays will adopt children.
Kevin - Why don't you post more on your blog? I find it hard to find time sometimes, but I look at it as, this is the kid's baby book now. I'm not a "put a picture into a book" type of person, but this is helping. I've even read back to some of my posts from a year ago, and don't remember that happening. I'm glad I posted it! Keep posting - your writing is good!
- Still going crazy. Not a new parent, Wife and I have both graduated. Working full time with various projects that involves dragging adults (kicking and screaming) to face unpleasant facts. Should be good practice for parenting.
I find it helps to laugh at the world and the situations we put ourselves in. We all take ourselves so seriously. When really, life is a comedy.

I have no idea who "dietrich509" is, but I always laugh my ass of at the comments!
Looks like a guy with a sense of humor! :)
Hey, let's just remember this entry is all about Kevin and how dorky he is (and this picture shows always has been) and not about my twisted brain.
Closest I have to me with a ring in a baby pic is the one of my eating cheerios, lol!
